Park Classic Diner   Monroeville, PA

Client Eat 'n Park Restaurants, Inc.
Construction Cost 297,404
Size 3,800 square feet

Eat'n Park Restaurants, Inc. opened its new Monroeville Park Classic Diner in December of 1999. The Monroeville Diner is the second built by Eat'n Park to facilitate its new diner concept restaurant, however, it is the first designed to be a modular, factory-assembled unit. Eat'n Park teamed up with Ross Schonder Sterzinger Cupcheck, P.C. and Kullman Industries to design and build its new 134-seat prototype modular diner.

The interior of the diner is designed to provide an entertaining and lively atmosphere with open vistas from all of the seating areas within the diner to the many activities that occur in the vestibule, lobby, counter and service counter areas.

From the custom pie case in the lobby to the napkin holders on the table, the use of materials and finishes establish a visually stimulating background for the dining experience. The interior finish materials include several polished materials, such as vinyl tile flooring, ceramic tile countertop, plastic laminate walls, stainless steel trim and wall panels and chrome signage that are highlighted by the placement of the accent and decorative lighting.

The seating arrangement provides three types of interactive areas: counter seating on stools, caf³ tables and chairs or the traditional booths.

The continuous ribbon of glass that surrounds the dining area with stainless trim and polished blinds provides reflection and vistas inside and outside of the diner. The exterior of the diner uses stainless steel, brushed aluminum, ceramic tile, glass block, a backlighted signage ribbon, neon and a large illuminated clock to produce a whimsical and sparking gem that is noticeable from all three roads that surround the site.
