The Hampton Police Department had outgrown their facilities and so developed a building
program for a new police building to meet their present and future needs. The 7,400 square
foot building was designed for maximum control of the building from an armored dispatch
center which is centrally located and visually overlooks most of the spaces in the building.
Also included are 4 holding cells, processing and evidence rooms, and a secure drive-in
prisoner entrance. The building is an energy-efficient design incorporating an exterior
insulation and finish system applied to a rugged concrete unit masonry building shell. Locker
rooms are provided for 40 officers and the building was designed to be accessible to the
handicapped.
