When Cranberry Township decided to open a new Community Park, RSSC joined
a team of landscape architects and engineers to transform local farmland into a
combination of active and passive recreation facilities. The centerpiece of the park is
a new community pool. RSSC designed the support building to house men's and
women's bathhouses, lifeguard facilities, snack bar and rental areas. The main
building consists of three 4,000 SF "pods" which are stepped to mirror the pod
design of the swimming pool. The bathhouse building is constructed out of decorative
split-face block with a heavy timber roof truss to open up the spaces to the
translucent skylights and metal roof above. Other buildings designed in the park
include concession stands, toilet facilities and utility buildings all designed with
materials to be compatible with the look of the main building.
