The Auditorium/Gymnasium addition for St. Alphonsus Catholic School, located in Wexford,
Pennsylvania, was completed in March 2004. Three years previous to this, RSSC completed a
Master Plan for the Parish that proposed a Phase One school addition and the Phase Two
Gymnasium addition.
This Phase One construction project in as many years, provided full accessibility to the
traditional two level school built in the 1950’s, and linked the new four classroom/administration
addition and the original school with a 12,500 square foot gymnasium.
Amenities to this project included flexible locker/toilet rooms that accommodate multiple teams
for school tournaments, a fully equipped concession area, a large gathering lobby, as well as
multiple storage areas for different school uses. The gym has regulation size high school
basketball and volleyball courts, bleachers to seat 280 spectators and a large stage for school
performances.
With careful planning and design on the Parish’s restricted site, RSSC was able to provide
St. Alphonsus with a building that is one of the best multi-purpose activity and athletic facilities
in the Diocese of Pittsburgh.
